Colorado Recovery transitional and outpatient facilities, located at several locations in North Boulder, provide easy access by foot, bike or bus to all that the city of Boulder has to offer.
The North Boulder Recreation Center, a few blocks from our Boulder, Colorado treatment facility, offers complete workout facilities, basketball courts, racquet ball courts, a swimming pool, and group classes such as yoga and Pilates. It is just one of three full- service recreation centers in the city of Boulder.
Within walking distance are the North Boulder Community Gardens which offer our clients the opportunity to participate in the Colorado Recovery gardening program. The large North Boulder Park is also close by.
Should you need medical assistance of any kind the Boulder Medical Center, a private comprehensive outpatient clinic is nearby and Boulder Community Hospital, a community owned and operated not-for-profit hospital with a 24-hour emergency department is fifteen minutes.
The popular Pearl Street Mall, Boulder Creek, Museum of Contemporary Art, Boulder Dushambe Tea House, seasonal outdoor ice skating rink, city library and farmers’ market make up the Boulder Downtown Complex. These community attractions and resources are woven in between restaurants, coffee houses, bookstores, retail shops and arts and craft galleries. Craft shows, festivals, and street performers can be seen year-round on the Pearl Street pedestrian mall.
Public transportation is very accessible and frequent in Boulder. An easy bus ride on the Skip takes you to south Boulder. Here you will find Colorado University at Boulder at which many of our clients enroll to continue their education. The campus planetarium, stadium and performing arts center offers a regular stream of scientific, sporting and cultural programming. Other higher education centers in the Boulder area include Front Range Community College and the Naropa University.
For outdoor enthusiasts, Boulder’s proximity to the Colorado Rockies offers opportunities for year-round outdoor recreation. Boulder is surrounded by a greenbelt of city parks and open spaces. Access to world-class mountain biking or hiking trails can be reached in a matter of minutes from anywhere in Boulder.
“One of The Best Cities for Cycling” (Bicycling Magazine), Boulder has an extensive network of bike paths, lanes, and routes that provide cyclists with efficient means of transportation and recreation. The inclusion of over 70 bike and pedestrian underpasses facilitates safe and uninterrupted travel throughout much of the city. For leisure biking, the Boulder Creek Path provides an easy, yet peaceful trail on which to walk.
Boulder is home to many world-class runners, marathoners and ultra-runners, but you don’t have to be an elite athlete to take a jog along many of our spectacular paths accessible from anywhere in Boulder. Boulder’s love of running is emphasized in May during the annual 10 km road run, the “Bolder Boulder”. Every year on Memorial Day over 50,000 runners, walkers and anything in between take part in making the Bolder Boulder one of the largest road races in the world.
While the town of Boulder does not have a ski resort, the town of Nederland, nestled in the mountains just outside of Boulder, does. Eldora Mountain Resort is an intimate local option for both skiers and snowboarders. Larger ski resorts such as Vail, Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin and elsewhere can be accessed by bus or by shuttle service in less than two hours.
