David Burgess, ACSW, LCSW, External Board Member. David received his Master’s Degree in Social work from the University of Denver. He was employed at the Jefferson County Colorado Department of Social Services as a child welfare caseworker, coordinator of a student placement program, and supervisor of the Child Protection Intake team. David then moved on to the Denver Center for Mental Health Services as a social worker, Director of Community Development, and Team Leader of the Lighthouse program. In 1989 David co-founded CHARG Resource Center together with a small group of professionals and mental health consumers, and was the Executive Director there until his retirement. David’s volunteer interests include being a founding member and first Vice President of the Colorado Coalition for the Prevention of Nuclear war; a board member and President of COMPEER of Colorado; board member and President of Community Shares of Colorado; board member of the Chinook Fund; and a member of various task forces and committees at the Denver Foundation. David continues to provide consultation services to local nonprofits through the Denver Foundation and enjoys playing the piano, traveling, and time spent with his wife, grandson, and a wide circle of friends and relatives.
